It is an absolute joy to live in the valley regions of Western Oregon during the winter. Temperatures are relatively mild and we typically don't experience anything too extreme, with some exceptions (the occasional ice storm). Winter is the perfect time to reflect on the successful and not so successful garden trials of the previous year, while also looking ahead to the new year with restless excitement. One of our favorite projects to work on during winter is selecting and purchasing the seed varieties we want to grow in the new season. We have put together a list of our favorite seed companies for Oregon and PNW gardeners so you can browse these catalogs and hopefully find something that excites you!

We hope you take the time to explore what these companies have to offer. We choose only the highest quality companies who have a passion for diversity, quality, reliability, and a commitment to the industry. We have separated our list into local seed companies if you want to shop as local as possible, as well as national seed companies who also encompass the aforementioned qualities. Happy seed hunting!

National Seed Companies

Botanical Interests | Colorado
Botanical Interests is one of our favorite seed companies because of their care and attention to detail.  Each seed packet features beautiful artwork, detailed planting instructions, and fun facts.  They are a great resource for unique vegetables, flowers, and herbs and they offer a very extensive selection of each.  They package their seeds with care (see photo), making each purchase from them a delightful experience.

True Leaf Market | Utah
True Leaf Market is more than just a great source of seeds, they also offer kits for growing microgreens, sprouts and mushrooms! The reason we love True Leaf Market is because of their recent acquisitions of the Kitazawa Seed Company and the Sustainable Seed Company. When you combine the rare seeds from Sustainable Seed Company and the largest collection of Asian seed varieties from Kitazawa, you get one of the best selections of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds available.

Eden Brothers | North Carolina
Eden Brothers is our top pick for bulbs and flower seeds.  They offer a great selection of fall and spring planted bulbs, an extensive selection of perennial and annual flower seeds, and an impressive amount of vegetable seeds as well.   If you are searching for heirloom seeds, Eden Brothers has a category dedicated to just heirlooms, which is actually very abundant and includes many varieties that are harder to find.
