Description
Ragged Jack kale is a very dependable and reliable heirloom dating back to the 1800s. The leaves are much more smooth and tender than most kales, making them perfect for eating fresh in salads. The plants grow to 24" to 36" tall. Life Cycle

Prefers loamy soil rich in organic matter. Compost well before planting. pH 6.5 to 6.8 Sunlight Preference

Kale prefers the cooler weather of spring and fall, but will grow during the summer with plenty of water. Transplant kale mid-spring through summer. Kale transplanted in mid-summer will be ready for harvest in the cooler weather of fall. Kale develops a better flavor in cold temperatures. Days to Maturity
