Red Perilla Shiso
Red perilla, or shiso, is a traditional Japanese herb which belongs to the mint family. It is sometimes referred to as Japanese basil, as it has a complex flavor profile of basil, citrus, and anise. The red version is what the Japanese use to pickle ginger, giving the pickled ginger it's pink color.
Prefers well-draining soil with medium fertility.
Plant the same way as you would basil. Transplant seedlings into the garden after all threat of frost has passed.
